Abstract
This paper does not only advocate for a restructuring so as to curb ethnic agitations and ensure the survival of democracy in Nigeria; it also states the brand of restructuring it advocates for. Drawing from many reasons to include insecurity, marginalization outcry, unequal sharing of
economic resources, there have been tensions from ethnic quarters for restructuring of the country. This outcry has become a problematic factor that demands urgent attention. The paper finds out that economic and security crisis and ethnic agitations experienced in the country are all products of present structure of the country which has outgrown its peculiar usefulness. The paper, thus, argues that restructuring of Nigeria will dowse ethnic tensions as they concern insecurity, unequal economic resources dispensation and as well ensure the survival of democracy in the country. The paper shall adopt contextual analysis and comparative approach to the discussion.
